The fourth annual Pleasant Street Community block party took place last Saturday (Sept. 5) bringing together hundreds of neighbors from Columbia- Savin Hill, Uphams Corner, Jones Hill, and the Polish Triangle.

Organized by Piter Branda, his company Pleasant Street Entertainment, and the non-profit One of 100, the event was free to everyone courtesy of donations from elected officials and local businesses.

There was ample food served via Diddy Burger, Murl’s Kitchen Food Truck, and the Munchie Station.
Jack Aldrich, Zach Abourezk, Kevin Wong, and Ernie Barber-Mingo grabbed a plate of Jerk Mac N Cheese from Murl’s before taking a walk through the fun.
Meanwhile, children enjoyed bouncy houses, water slides, and a foam machine.

The annual event closes off Pleasant Street from Stoughton to Trescott Streets. Brandao said they are excited that they will play host again next year and are working to get even more people to attend.

One of 100 will hold its second annual gala on Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. to continue raising money for athletic facilities and fields in Cape Verde.
