To the Editor:
John McColgan’s opinion piece (Sept. 24 edition) about the Little House site being turned into a boutique hotel is spot on. He’s just stating a fact when he says that the Little House was a big part of the community for over a hundred years.
However, to a developer, the history of a community really doesn’t matter. Fair enough. What does matter is that a project of this scale, 42 suites, with no provision for parking in a very dense and busy neighborhood, just doesn’t make sense.
Anybody who is familiar with that stretch of East Cottage Street between Pleasant Street and Dot Ave knows that this project just doesn’t fit.
It’s hard to believe that “abutters” would welcome more traffic and parking issues into the neighborhood. It’s even more difficult to believe that a project like this could be approved by the Boston Planning and Development Agency.
It makes you wonder whose interests the City of Boston has at heart –the people who actually live in the neighborhoods or the developers?
