Autumn’s foliage brush is painting a spectacular show this week in the neighborhood, particularly in the grounds of Cedar Grove Cemetery and the nearby Neponset Greenway, which are awash in brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold.

Vibrant chrysanthemums add splashes of pink, purple, and yellow to the cemetery’s landscape, while towering maples provide a colorful canopy over its winding paths and historic monuments, including the granite figure of Capt. Benjamin Stone, hero of the 11th Massachusetts infantry regiment in the Civil War.
