Boston Police say an unknown man broke into a house near Savin Hill Avenue early Sunday morning and allegedly climbed into bed with a sleeping woman.

Police issued an appeal on Tuesday seeking the public’s help identifying the suspect, who was shown on images distributed to the media.

According to an incident report reviewed by The Reporter, officers responded to 1061 Dorchester Ave., near Hallam and Elton streets, around 4:40 a.m. after receiving a report of a person with a knife.

Police said the suspect, described as a Hispanic man wearing a white shirt and black pants, entered through an unlocked rear door. The barefoot intruder allegedly approached a woman as she slept beside her sister, climbed into bed, put his arm around her and then placed his leg around her.

The woman awoke screaming and told police she did not recognize the man. The suspect fled through the rear door, where a witness managed to photograph him.

Witnesses told police the man appeared intoxicated and had been seen peering into apartment windows before the incident. One witness reported seeing a knife clipped to the suspect’s pants pocket, although police said he did not use it to threaten anyone.

Officers searched the surrounding neighborhood but did not locate the suspect. The incident was classified as a residential burglary.

Police released these images of the alleged suspect:
