A committee of Democratic activists in Ward 15 voted to endorse Mayor Wu for re-election during a meeting on July 19, according to a statement released by the group on July 30. The group also endorsed four candidates for election to the at-large seats on the Boston City Council: Julia Mejia, Ruthzee Louijeune, Henry Santana, and Alexandra Valdez.
Ward 15 includes precincts in and around Bowdoin Street, Meetinghouse Hill, and Fields Corner. According to a statement released by the committee, the endorsements were based on two forums held by a coalition of 12 Democratic ward committees in recent weeks.
In addition to the announcement, the endorsement includes a pledge to assist the candidates with poll signage and lawn signs and a $100 contribution to the candidate’s campaign.
