American Ancestors will host a Boston book launch for genealogist André Kearns’s new book, Finding Cornerstone Stories: Uncovering Inspiration in Your Family’s History, on Friday, Oct. 16, from 5 to 6 p.m. at 97 Newbury St. in Boston.
The free event will feature Kearns discussing the book, which uses illustrated essays drawn from his own family tree to explore Black entrepreneurship, resilience, and leadership. Kearns also offers practical guidance for readers interested in researching and preserving their own family histories.
Kearns is founder and CEO of Black Ancestries, a genealogy research firm focused on helping people of African descent trace and preserve their family histories. He has spent more than two decades researching African-American family lines, including tracing his own ancestry to the first Africans in colonial Virginia. His work has been featured in The Washington Post, National Geographic, and other publications.
A reception and book signing will follow the in-person program. The event will also be streamed online, and a recording will be made available to registrants. Go to americanancestors.org to register.
