




The Church of the Holy Spirit in Mattapan will commemorate its founding 140 years ago on Sun., Sept. 20, with a special service at 10:30 a.m.
The usual Thursday-night karaoke crowd at Ghost Pepper Taqueria on Savin Hill Avenue swelled on April 16 with the addition of two large birthday parties. And as the place let out for the night, now early on the 17th, people were in no mood to leave. But they were in a fighty mood, not a mood to burst into more song, according to a police report read into the record at a Boston Licensing Board hearing on Tuesday.

Boston began casting ballots last weekend in the Sept. 1 state primary, with early voting opening on Saturday at locations across the city, including sites in Dorchester and Mattapan.
