Safe Summer Streets Program to Begin on 7/7

Safe Summer Streets Program to Begin on 7/7 - On 7/7 we will kick-off the 25th Anniversary of the Safe Summer Streets program for our teen members. To begin the night we will have a very special appearance with, Chris Herren of the Herren Project. The Herren Project educates youth and at-risk populations on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and provide techniques to handle pressure within their lives, their community or their family situation. The presentation will be followed with Roller Skating in the gym, a Pool Party, and a BBQ for all to enjoy. The Safe Summer Streets program will provide programming for our teen members from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. weeknights. Activities this summer include: a Basketball League (3 divisions of play), Film Classes, a Summer Swim Team, Music Lessons, Community Service events, Art Classes, Girls Group/Boys Group, a Volleyball League, Field Trips, and more. Special events include: a Music Clubhouse Concert (7/11), the Admissions 101 Workshop at U-Mass Boston (7/14), Juvenile Justice Jeopardy (7/16), a trip to Lazer Quest (7/18), a Pool Party (7/25), the Annual Career Fair (7/30), College Alumni Night Cruise of Boston Harbor (8/6), Summer Swim Team Final Meet against the Malden YMCA (8/7), Summer Arts Bash (8/8), the Semi-Formal Dance (8/12), and the Basketball League Championships (8/13). Summer Music Lessons
- This Summer, our Music program will offer a limited Music Lesson program for members ages 10-18. Lessons will take place weekday afternoons. In addition to Lessons we will also offer Beatmaking, D’Jaying, Drumline, Music Videos, Songwriting, and Ensemble classes. These classes will begin the week of 7/7.
