(UPDATED) Ward 16 endorses Menino and four for at-large

We're hearing Dorchester's Ward 16 Democratic Committee made some endorsements last night, including a unanimous vote for Mayor Thomas Menino's re-election effort.

The ward includes Fields Corner, down through Cedar Grove and over to the Neponset River. District 3 Councillor Maureen Feeney, an ardent Menino supporter, is actively involved with the committee.

The committee also endorsed City Councillors At-Large Stephen Murphy and John Connolly for re-election. Former Kerry aide Ayanna Pressley and former Roxbury YMCA head Ego Ezedi, who are among 15 candidates vying for a seat on the council, also received endorsements.

Menino is facing challengers Michael Flaherty and Sam Yoon, who are both giving up their at-large seats to run for mayor. South Ender Kevin McCrea is also running.

UPDATE: From the committee's press release... Menino received his endorsement on the first ballot, as did Murphy, Connolly and Pressley. Ezedi received his endorsement on the third ballot.
