#BosMayor Round-Up: Oct. 12, 2013

24 days to Nov. 5. Three days until the first televised debate between the two finalists. State Rep. Marty Walsh of Dorchester will hit several events in West Roxbury, while City Councillor At-Large John Connolly of West Roxbury has a few events in Dorchester.

GOLAR RICHIE BACKING WALSH: Former state Rep. Charlotte Golar Richie, who finished third in the Sept. 24 preliminary, will announce her support for her one-time colleague Marty Walsh. The Globe's Andrew Ryan first reported the decision last night. The Golar Richie camp sent out an email at 11:30 p.m. on Friday, saying she will make an announcement at 10 a.m. Saturday outside the First Parish Church on Meetinghouse Hill. The Herald's Peter Gelzinis has the story behind the endorsement: "It appears to have been a vigorous battle waged through proxies on both sides. But the interesting thing is that the side pulling Golar Richie in Connolly’s direction had a connection to the fifth-floor corner office in City Hall." Golar Richie and Walsh briefly served together at the State House, before Golar Richie left for the Menino administration. Golar Richie's endorsement comes after former School Committee member John Barros and City Councillor At-Large Felix Arroyo said they were backing Walsh.

EDUCATION REFORM GROUP RESUMES CONNOLLY SUPPORT: The Massachusetts chapter of Democrats for Education Reform, after suspending its spending on Connolly's behalf, is jumping back into the race, pointing to union spending in support of Walsh and the absence of an agreement curbing outside money. More details here.
