Charlotte Golar Richie’s term on the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination ends next week. Commissioner Richie, a resident of Meetinghouse Hill in Dorchester, completes her two-and-a-half posting on Feb. 10.

“It was an honor to serve this agency at a time when civil rights, discrimination and bigotry were on the minds of many,” Richie said. “I am pleased to have a special and important opportunity to address these issues during my tenure at the MCAD.”

The former Dorchester lawmaker and neighborhood development director for the City of Boston, Richie was appointed in July 2014. She served as Investigating Commissioner for the Boston Region, the largest geographic jurisdiction served by the MCAD.

“Commissioner Richie was instrumental in the success of a number of the MCAD’s signature initiatives,” said Chairwoman Jamie Williamson in a statement. “These include the development and implementation of our new Language Access Plan and fortification of the agency’s public outreach efforts. The highlight of these efforts was the numerous events marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the MCAD, which drew significant attention to the agency’s mission and contemporary challenges.”
