Rep. Ayanna Pressley issued a statement this afternoon on the March 11 fatal shooting of Stephenson King by a Boston Police officer and called for King’s family to get “access to body camera footage to ensure a full, truthful account of the shooting, along with critical resources to support their healing.”
Pressley’s comments come several days after Boston Police Officer Nicholas O’Malley was arrested and charged with manslaughter in the death of King, who was a suspect in a reported carjacking in Roxbury on the night of his death. O’Malley is alleged to have fired three shots into the car that King was driving.

Also today: State Senator Liz Miranda issued her most in-depth statement on the incident and concludes that DA Kevin Hayden “did the right thing” in bringing charges against Officer O’Malley.
City Councillor Ruthzee Louijeune has also issued a statement that included a call for body-worn camera footage to be release.
