Gov. Maura Healey has named Dorchester resident Joyce Linehan to the 19-member governing board of the Mass Cultural Council for a term that runs through Feb. 24, 2028.

The Council is an independent state agency that supports the Commonwealth’s arts and cultural sector through grants, programs, and partnerships. Its governing board is made up of private citizens from across Massachusetts with experience in the arts, humanities, and related fields.

“Joyce has long been a champion for the cultural sector in Massachusetts,” said Council chair Ché Anderson in a statement. “We are thrilled to welcome her and look forward to her contributions as we expand access to the arts.”

Linehan currently serves as chief of staff for the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority. Her career spans government, higher education, nonprofits, and the private sector, including roles as chief of policy and planning under former Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh and as a special assistant to the president at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.

A longtime arts advocate, Linehan has served on numerous boards and advisory groups, including the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and the governor’s Cultural Policy Advisory Council. She also founded the nonprofit Culture Saves, which produces arts programming in the Boston area.

“I’m honored to join at such an important moment,” Linehan said. “The arts are essential to our communities.”
