‘Acts of kindness’ encouraged for One Boston Day

Day of service commemorates the city’s response to the 2013 Marathon Bombing tragedy…

Mayor Wu is calling on Boston residents, businesses, and community groups to mark One Boston Day on April 15 with acts of kindness and volunteer service to honoring victims, survivors, and first responders of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

Now in its 13th year, the annual day of service commemorates the city’s response to the tragedy and encourages residents to give back in their neighborhoods throughout Marathon Week.

City departments will host service projects across Boston, including a youth and family cleanup at Franklin Park Playstead on Saturday, April 18 at 9 a.m.

The Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center will offer free virtual “Stop the Bleed” trainings on April 15 at noon and 6 p.m., teaching lifesaving techniques to control severe bleeding.

A wreath-laying ceremony in Back Bay will also take place the morning of April 15.
