Saint John Paul II Catholic Academy honored Dorchester native Jim Brett and his wife, Pattie, at its annual spring fundraising event on April 9 at the school’s Columbia Road campus. The couple received the academy’s Light of Leadership Award, recognizing their service to the school and broader community.
More than 100 people attended the event, which included remarks from school leaders and students.
“It is an honor to recognize Jim and Pattie Brett because they have made an impact without fanfare, with humility and with integrity,” said Regional Head of School Kate Brandley.
Pattie Brett was cited for her leadership at the Mary Ann Brett Food Pantry at St. Teresa Parish, which serves more than 600 people monthly, while Jim Brett, CEO of the New England Council and a former state representative, was recognized for his civic and business leadership.
The academy, founded in 2008, operates three campuses in Dorchester and serves students from toddler age through grade 8.
