Two teens pleaded guilty Tuesday for their role in a deadly 2024 shooting near Bowdoin-Geneva that left a father dead and his son wounded.

Manuel Guerrero, 19, and Luis Perez, 18, admitted to manslaughter, armed assault with intent to murder, and home invasion charges just days before their trial was set to begin. Judge Mary Ames sentenced both to 18 to 22 years in state prison, followed by two years of probation.

The shooting on Aug. 12, 2024 happened at 5 Trent St. Surveillance footage showed the pair exiting a Kia Forte near Trent and Clarkson streets and entering the building, according to prosecutors in the Suffolk County DA’s office.

When 20-year-old Leudis Concepcion opened his apartment door and saw two masked men with guns, he slammed it shut. One of the suspects fired through the door, striking him in the arm.

Moments later, his father, Leudis Mejia Sanchez, 49, rushed upstairs after hearing the gunfire. As the suspects fled, one shot Mejia Sanchez in the chest at close range, killing him.

Prosecutors said it remains unclear which teen fired the shots, but both were charged.

Investigators used surveillance video, GPS data from the rental car, and a court-ordered monitoring bracelet worn by Perez in an unrelated case to identify the suspects.
