Boston Police are investigating a shooting incident near the intersection of Columbia Road and Dorchester Avenue that left one male victim with a non-life-threatening injury.

One nearby resident tells the Reporter he heard several gunshots nearby and people shouting.

According to a police spokesperson, “Multiple callers reported a group of individuals exiting a vehicle and discharging a firearm in the area. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Boston EMS is on scene with Boston PD. Investigation is ongoing.”

A reporter at the scene confirmed that one person was taken from the scene by ambulance.

Police sources tell The Reporter that a citywide alert has been issued for a vehicle with a Rhode Island license plate believed to be related to the shooting.

Yellow tape blocked the corner of Dorchester Avenue and Mount Vernon Street and along a park on Columbia Road known by local residents as Sharon’s Park as police canvassed for ballistic evidence with the assistance of a K-9 unit.
