The Munchie Station at 996 Dorchester Ave. in Savin Hill hopes to extend its closing time to 1 a.m. on weekends and add an ice cream parlor in the vacant storefront next door.
The proposal, to be pitched to the Columbia Savin Hill Civic Association Planning Committee in June, calls for extending closing time on Fridays and Saturdays to 1 a.m. The new ice cream business requires a new common victuallers license and would have hours of noon to 11 p.m.

“Our intention is to have the extra hours for Door Dash and limit the walk-ins so that we might be able to help out with the parking,” said Yenitza Arias, a co-owner of the Munchie Station with Kevin Gonzalez. “Nobody will be able to walk in after 11 p.m. Those extra hours would only be for third-party app drivers.”
The Munchie Station is a popular spot, offering comfort food from waffles to wings to their signature “chopped cheese” sandwich. Arias said they have worked hard to prevent double parking from delivery drivers and have installed signs calling on customers to be mindful of neighbors.
One neighbor remarked that there are a lot of scooters racing around in the area, but not connected to Munchie Station or its deliveries. However, she said it would be a good time to address the uptick in scooter racing.
