Final preparations are underway for the annual Dorchester Day Parade this Sunday, June 7. Marchers step off from the corner of Richmond Street and Dorchester Avenue at 1 p.m. and follow a 3.2- mile route up Dot Ave to Columbia Road.
Parking restrictions will be in place for most of the day along the avenue and on Richmond Street, where the paraders assemble.

Brianne Gore, president of the Dorchester Day Parade Committee, said that volunteers work throughout the year to assemble a lineup of groups and performers that represents the rich diversity of the neighborhood while keeping spectators engaged along the route.

“Supporting and highlighting Dorchester is at the heart of everything we do,” said Gore. “The parade is an opportunity to showcase the people and traditions that make Dorchester such a vibrant community.”
The march is a tradition that dates back to its role in 1905 as part of the annual commemoration of the 1630 founding of the colonial settlement that became the town of Dorchester.
Local schools, youth organizations, businesses, cultural groups and performers are encouraged to take part. At the same time, organizers welcome parties from outside Dorchester.
“Their participation helps us celebrate a wider range of cultures and traditions and gives our community the opportunity to learn more about people and organizations in the Greater Boston area.” said Gore.

Returning groups expected to draw attention this year include the Aleppo Shriners, Estrellas Tropicales, the Kenny School Marching Band, Boston Little Saigon, Paulie’s Push, and more. Dorchester Baseball will also participate while celebrating its 10U and 12U Mayor’s Cup championship teams from 2025.
Several first-time participants are expected to join the lineup, including Shanti, Boston Flight Academy, Brookline football and cheer, Dorchester Youth Soccer, Bold Sip, Area 51 Majorette Dance Team, Revamp, and Merry Go Rounds.
Also among the additions is The Parade Man, a performer known for entertaining crowds from atop a large decorated truck.
While no major route changes are planned, organizers have expanded outreach efforts this year to encourage greater participation from local businesses and community organizations.
“The parade serves as a powerful reminder of the connections, traditions, and civic spirit that make Dorchester such a special place to live and work.” said Gore.
