Collins, Fluker-Reid named Grand Marshal,Grand Matron of Boston Caribbean Carnival

The Caribbean American Carnival Association of Boston (CACAB) has announced that state Sen. Nick Collins and state Rep. Brandy Fluker-Reid will serve as Grand Marshal and Grand Matron of the 53rd annual Boston Caribbean Carnival, starting with the J’ouvert Parade at the break of dawn and culminating with the Afternoon Road Parade on Sat., Aug. 29. 

“Boston Caribbean Carnival is a powerful expression of history, resilience, and cultural pride,” said Fluker-Reid. “I am deeply honored to serve as Grand Matron during this historic 53rd year celebration.”

Added Collins, “For generations, Boston’s Caribbean community has helped shape the culture and character of this city. It is a tremendous honor to serve as Grand Marshal of this year’s Caribbean Parade.”

Founded in 1973, Boston Caribbean Carnival has become one of the largest cultural celebrations in New England, showcasing the rich traditions, music, food, and heritage of Boston’s Caribbean community.
“Carnival season is such a joyful and meaningful time for our community,” said CACAB President Shirley Shillingford. “Carnival celebrates culture, heritage, resilience, and unity, and we are grateful for the continued support of our partners as we prepare to welcome residents and visitors from across the region.”

For more than five decades, the event has served as a powerful celebration of Caribbean culture while generating significant economic activity for local businesses, hotels, restaurants, vendors, and entertainers throughout Greater Boston.

The 2026 Carnival season includes the Carnival Gala on Aug. 7, Ecumenical Services on Aug. 16, Junior Carnival on Aug. 23, the King and Queen Showcase on Aug. 27, and concludes with the J’ouvert and Afternoon Road Parades on Aug. 29.
