YouthConnect, a non-profit focused on youth mental health and violence prevention, has named Keyla Jackson, a Dorchester resident who serves as interim executive director of Facilities Management at Boston Public Schools (BPS), to its board of directors.
Jackson holds a master’s of science in Counseling Psychology and a graduate certificate in Human Resources Management/Personnel Administration from Northeastern University, previously held roles at MassHousing and worked on community-based initiatives, including the creation and launch of the Jamaica Plain Hub in partnership with the Boston Police Department.
“I am honored to join the YouthConnect Board and support an organization that plays such an important role in connecting Boston’s young people and families with the support they need,” said Jackson.
“YouthConnect’s ability to bring together schools, law enforcement, mental health professionals, and community partners is incredibly important, and I look forward to contributing to that work as the organization continues to grow.”
YouthConnect was created in 1996 in response to rising youth violence and fragmented systems of support. What began in a single Boston Police Department district station with one social worker has grown into an organization embedded in 10 district stations and specialized units across the city.
