The Caribbean American Carnival Association of Boston will launch its 2026 Carnival season with a kickoff celebration at Carson Beach in South Boston on Saturday, June 27.

The organization, known as CACAB, is marking its 53rd year as Boston’s original Caribbean Carnival group.

Organizers said the choice of Carson Beach carries special significance, citing the beach’s history as a site once associated with racial tension and exclusion and its present-day role as a gathering place for Boston’s diverse communities.

The kickoff event will include DJs and live music, steel pan and drumming, mas band previews, Caribbean food vendors, family-friendly activities, and remarks from CACAB leaders, community partners, and cultural ambassadors.

Organizers are also expected to make announcements about the 2026 Carnival Parade and Festival.

“Carson Beach represents how far Boston has come — from division to connection,” said Leonard M. Lee Sr., senior vice president of operations and funding for CACAB. “Bringing our Caribbean community here is a statement of unity, pride, and progress. This kickoff honors our past while celebrating the inclusive Boston we continue to build.”
