Author and historian Ibram X. Kendi will visit JustBook-ish in Fields Corner on Tuesday, Sept. 15, for a conversation with Boston City Councilor At-Large Ruthzee Louijeune about his newest book, Chain of Ideas: The Origins of Our Authoritarian Age.
The event will run from 4 to 6 p.m. at the bookstore, 1463 Dorchester Ave. Kendi, the author of Stamped from the Beginning and How to Be an Antiracist, examines the global rise of authoritarian politics in his latest work.
Kendi is the inaugural Carter G. Woodson Endowed Chair in History at Howard University and founding director of the university’s Institute for Advanced Study. Louijeune has served as a Boston at-large city councillor since 2022.
