Massport is looking for a new voice that reflects “the Boston vibe” to welcome the roughly 43 million travelers who pass through Boston Logan International Airport each year— and Massachusetts residents are invited to audition.
The agency on Monday launched its “Voice of Logan” competition, a statewide search for the person who will deliver overhead announcements heard throughout the airport clearly and confidently.
“At Boston Logan, we have been working hard to go above and beyond for our passengers,” said Massport CEO Rich Davey. “There’s no better way to do that than with one of the many diverse, distinct, and deeply proud voices that make up our Commonwealth.”
Massachusetts residents can submit auditions through Oct. 4 at VoiceofLogan.com.
Massport will host an in-person kickoff event this Thursday (Sept. 17) from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Logan’s Terminal A, where participants can get advice on their auditions and record submissions on site.
Davey will be joined by KISS 108’s Lisa Donovan, WHDH-TV anchor Amaka Ubaka, and WBZ NewsRadio reporter Matt Shearer.
Judges will narrow the contestants to five finalists based on criteria that include clarity, personality, and the “Boston vibe.” The public can then cast votes for the winner from Oct. 24 through Oct. 28.
The winning “Voice of Logan” will be announced Nov. 5 and is expected to begin greeting airport passengers through recorded announcements in mid-November.
