The Zoning Board of Appeal on Tuesday approved plans by the owner of the parking lot at 372 Neponset Ave. in Dorchester to replace it with a four-story, ten-unit apartment building with 13 parking spaces.
Paul Adamson kept the parking lot after he sold Dorset Hall – now McGonagle’s – across Neponset Avenue.
All of the units will have two bedrooms, his attorney, George Morancy, said. Two of the units will be rented to people making no more than 60% of the Boston area median income.
The building required variances because was taller and denser than its lot’s zoning allows, the zoning for ten apartments on the site normally would require 15 parking spaces and it was closer to its neighboring lots. In a separate application, Adamson sought permission to discontinue its use as a parking lot for McGonagles. Both requests were approved unanimously.
