Polls will be open on Election Day next Tuesday (Nov. 3) from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the city of Boston and across Massachusetts, where more than 739,000 voters have already cast their ballots, according to figures released Monday afternoon by Secretary of State William Galvin’s office.

The figure represents 14.3 percent of the state’s registered voters and includes 555,235 mail-in ballots and 183,823 votes cast in person at early voting locations, including many in Boston. In-person early voting in Boston continues through this Friday (Oct. 30) at Boston City Hall and select sites in the neighborhoods.

The ballot includes contests for governor and other statewide constitutional offices, along with state and county offices and nine ballot questions.

Galvin said that as of Tuesday this week, voters should have been using drop boxes instead of the US mail to return mail-in ballots.

“Within one week of Election Day, we always warn voters not to take the risk of mailing their ballot, if they are able to use a drop box instead,” Galvin said. “If you still have your mail-in ballot, you can bring it to a drop box or your local election office until 8 p.m. on Election Day.”

“If your ballot is received within three days of Election Day, it can still be counted, as long it was postmarked by Election Day,” he said. “Postmarks may not be applied until a day or two after the ballot was put in the mailbox. If you can, it is best to bring your ballot into the post office, to have it postmarked at the counter.”
