Adams Village is prepping for a very busy day on Sat., Nov. 7. It will begin with the annual book sale at the Adams Street Branch of the Boston Public Library, starting at 10 a.m. and running to 4 p.m. Just down the hill, the Irish Pastoral Centre (IPC) will stage its fourth annual Christmas Craft Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., an event hosted by the Bumble Bee Knitting & Crochet Club and friends.
“It’s a real old-fashioned craft fair” with “a lot of really nice handmade things,” said longtime St. Brendan’s congregant John Parsons of The Friends of Saint Brendan. Both events will help support the various programs offered at the library and the IPC.
Then, people can finish a fun day with a drink at the Eire Pub to support food security for local families this holiday season. Visitors are asked to bring grocery store gift cards or charitable cash donations. All the proceeds will benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Society Fr. Fratus Food Pantry at St. Brendan Church.
“It’s the holidays; the food need is there. The St. Vincent de Paul Thanksgiving grocery bags they make up, they don’t have the funds to provide turkeys for people, or that ability, so what they do is they put a gift card in the bag with the dinner items,” explained Parsons.
“It gives them enough money throughout the year to keep giving out those gift cards or going to the store themselves to buy items for the food pantry. It’s a real big help for them.”
