Bill Clinton in town for Grossman's treasurer run

Former President Bill Clinton will swing through Boston this weekend, headlining a rally and fundraiser for state treasurer candidate Steve Grossman.

Mayor Thomas Menino is expected to join them at the event, which is scheduled for Sunday, 3 p.m., at Boston's Park Plaza Hotel.

Grossman, who bested City Councillor Stephen Murphy in the Democratic primary last week, is facing state Rep. Karyn Polito (R-Shrewsbury) in November's general election.

Grossman was a top fundraiser for Clinton and is the former chair of the Democratic National Committee.

Clinton is campaigning in Taunton the same day for Congressman Barney Frank, who is squaring off with Brookline Republican Sean Bielat.

Clinton dropped by South Boston earlier this year for Congressman Stephen Lynch, who won a primary match with Milton Democrat Mac D'Alessandro.
