Gorner takes charge at Crispus Attucks Center

The board of directors at the Crispus Attucks Children’s Center in Grove Hall has announced the appointment of Amanda Gorner as its executive director, effective on July 31.

Gorner, who earned her bachelor’s degree at Smith College, has nearly 30 years of experience supporting children and their families in early education and care. Most recently she was the director of finance and administration at Newton Community Education. She previously worked at various early education and Head Start programs including, The Dimock Center in Roxbury, and Baker-Ripley and House of Tiny Treasures in Houston, TX. 

“We are extremely excited to have Amanda join the CACC family,” said Daniel Farley, chair, CACC board of directors. “Her experiences in the classroom, as a program administrator, and overall leader set her and the Center up to deliver high quality education and support to all our students and families.”

Said Gorner: “I believe that every child and family deserve access to high quality early education and care and am thrilled to join Crispus Attucks in providing those services to the community.”

Founded in 1971, CACC has a 52-year history serving the young children of Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan, and surrounding communities, on a 2.5-acre campus in Grove Hall. The largest single-site infant and toddler education and care program in the City of Boston, CACC also provides preschool education, and since 2019 is part of the Boston Public School’s Universal Pre-Kindergarten Program.
