The city of Boston’s Open Streets series will return to Dorchester Avenue in September and will for the first time extend to Mattapan Square.

Mayor Wu announced the schedule for the fourth annual car-free event series last week during a visit to Mattapan.
The Dorchester Avenue event will take place on Sun., Sept. 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m between Ashmont Street and Adams Street in Fields Corner. The Mattapan event will close off Blue Hill Avenue between River and Babson streets on Oct. 18.

Other car-free events will be staged on Blue Hill Ave. in Roxbury (July 12), Hyde Park Ave. and River Street in Hyde Park (Aug. 10), and Centre Street in Jamaica Plain (November 2).
