The 45th annual edition of the Ashmont Hill Yard Sale took place under unexpectedly sunny skies last Saturday (May 17), with more than 25 homes in the area putting out their wares for bargain hunters to sort through and purchase.
The sale is both social and serious and kitsch and utilitarian, with everything from silver tea sets to an original ‘Godzilla’ movie poster that was displayed in Polish movie theatres. Visitors could find antique furniture, baby clothes, a Turkish-made leather suitcase, and even baseball cards from both the distant past and the present.
“What I have here is the toaster that no one wanted,” said Phil Keefe, one of the sellers. “We hope it finds a home.”
Hundreds and hundreds of neighbors and visitors packed the sidewalks and thoroughfares of Ashmont Hill from early in the morning to early afternoon. As happy organizers noted, it was another successful event.
