The city’s Zoning Commission will hold a virtual public meeting on Wed., Sept.10, to review a development team’s plan to build a pair of 18-story residential towers on the site of the former Channel 56 television studio at 75 Morrissey Blvd. The buildings would house 754 apartments, including 151 income-restricted units, according to the Boston Planning Department, which gave its approval to the project last week.

The buildings will also house a mix of ground-floor retail uses and “community-civic” spaces, according to the latest plans filed with the city. Based on a summary provided by Cooper Mill, the lead developer, an estimated 710 construction jobs will be part of the economic impact.

This project is the first of three phases of redevelopment approved by city officials for this stretch of Morrissey Boulevard. A new community park is also part of the proposal. Developers have pledged $209,755 to the Boston Transportation Department in support of the bikeshare system, the Planning Department said, in addition to $600,000 for the Boston Parks Department to maintain Moakley Park.

The hearing will be held virtually at 9 a.m. Participants can go to bosplans.org/BZCSept1025 to join the session.
