Boston Police issued a warning to the public last week after C-11 police received a report of a phone scam involving an impostor claiming to be member of the police department. According to the account, the victim sent online payments to a scammer who claimed to be a BPD sergeant and demanded money owed for a “court-related matter.” The victim sent two payments to the fraudster before alerting actual police to the incident.

“The Boston Police Department reminds community members that we will never call and request money, banking information, or electronic transfers as part of any investigation or court matter,” Boston Police said in a statement. Call Boston Police or 9-1-1 if you receive any such calls.

A Boston woman who was charged with “violently shoving” a 63-year-old woman out of a Route 28 bus last month, admitted to the crime in a Roxbury courtroom last Friday. Luz Pineda has been ordered to stay off the MBTA and will be confined to her home for three months while the case is continued without a finding for two years, based on a ruling from Municipal Court Judge Connor Barusch. If she stays out of trouble during that time, the charge of assault and battery on a person over 60 causing injury will be dismissed. Judge Barusch also ordered her to continue with mental-health treatment and to stay away from the victim.
