On Monday and  Tuesday from 8 a.m. on, community members lined up along the boards and chain-linked fence of Garvey Park’s O’Sullivan Street Hockey Court to cheer on kids ages 6 to 12 in the annual Mayor’s Street Hockey Tournament.

Armed with sticks and gloves, the young athletes battled over a bright orange ball while family and friends took advantage of the sunny start to April vacation. The event was hosted by Mayor Michelle Wu and the Boston Parks and Rec Department, in partnership with the Boston Bruins Foundation.

By the end of the two-day tournament, three champions were named. Come Monday, April 27, the Parkway Mites, the Dorchester Gold Squirts, and the Hyde Park Peewees can head back to the classroom with full bragging rights.
