Boston Police say a man was fatally stabbed early Monday morning near Franklin Field in Dorchester.

According to a BPD report, officers responded to the area of Wilbert Road and Harvard Street around 3:20 a.m. for a report of a person stabbed, police said.

The victim — who has not yet been named by authorities— was found suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police say. No arrests have been announced.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the BPD Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.

The murder happened at the end of a chaotic night for Boston Police and neighbors in the aftermath of the annual Dominican festival, which ends at Franklin Park, but often continues after hours on streets around the park.

In an earlier incident, police arrested a 25-year-old Dorchester man and recovered a loaded handgun following a foot chase near Michigan Avenue.

Officers assigned to District B-3 said they recognized the suspect— Tu-merrick Joseph Brown— among a large crowd that gathered near Old Road and Michigan Avenue, across from Franklin Park.

Police said Brown was wanted on an outstanding warrant stemming from an Aug. 2 incident on Havelock Strete in which Brown allegedly crashed into several vehicles and a police cruiser while fleeing officers.

A loaded firearm was recovered under the driver’s seat in that incident, but Brown escaped police that night.

On Sunday, police say Brown ran from officers, but was apprehended behind 8 Michigan Ave.

Officers said they recovered a Ruger GP100 .357 Magnum handgun loaded with six rounds from inside Brown’s pant leg.

Brown is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on firearms and ammunition charges, including subsequent-offense counts. Police said he also had an outstanding Dorchester District Court warrant on firearms charges.

During booking, police said officers discovered another warrant from Plymouth Superior Court charging Brown with aggravated organized retail crime serial theft and two counts of larceny over $1,200 by a single scheme.

As the Reporter has documented in recent coverage, Old Road has been a chronic problem for later night gatherings in the summer, so much so that Boston Police now routinely block off the roadway to vehicular traffic at night in an attempt to discourage street takeovers by younger revelers. On Sunday night into Monday, police appeared to be overwhelmed, as large numbers of partiers took over the street once again.
