The following letter to the editor was secondarily addressed to state Rep. Evandro C. Carvalho of the Fifth Suffolk District:
Dear Rep. Carvalho,
We, the members of the Ward 15 Democratic Committee, were very pleased to learn of your election on April 8 as chair of the Boston State Delegation in the Legislature.
In just 18 months as our representative, you have demonstrated a strong work ethic, an upbeat, can-do attitude, and a commitment to the issues that affect the Fifth Suffolk District. No doubt, these are attributes that led your colleagues to cast their votes in support of your candidacy.
The importance of your chairmanship must be underscored: Dorchester and Roxbury combined are the most diverse neighborhoods of the city. People who call these neighborhoods home come from all walks of life. If Dorchester and Roxbury are successful, Boston is successful.
As delegation chair, you have an opportunity to unite city legislators in addressing not only common areas of concern, but also in enlisting their help in tackling serious issues that are faced by your constituents.
We look forward to supporting your efforts as you assume this new role, and as you work to make Dorchester/Roxbury – and Boston – even stronger, better places to live and work and raise a family!
Congratulations!
