Two people were killed and several others wounded in a flurry of night-time shootings in Roxbury and Dorchester during the late hours of Sat., July 4 and early morning of Sunday, July 5.
Boston Police say officers came across a shooting scene near Grove Hall just after 12:30 a.m. when an officer assigned to District B-2 observed a person suffering from a gunshot wound near 500 Blue Hill Ave., in the area of Castlegate Road. Two additional victims were soon found nearby and all three were treated by Boston EMS and transported to local hospitals.
One of the victims was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to a BPD account The other two victims sustained injuries considered non-life-threatening. A fourth victim later arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and is expected to survive, police said.
Later, about 3:14 a.m., officers assigned to District B-2 responded to a radio call for a person shot near 120 George St. in Roxbury. On arrival, police found three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. All three were transported by Boston EMS to local hospitals. One victim was pronounced dead at the hospital; a second victim suffered life-threatening injuries, and a third sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said that at 4:06 a.m., three additional victims arrived at a local hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds connected to the George Street incident.
The Boston Police Homicide Unit is investigating both fatal shootings.
In addition to the two death investigations, police reported three other shootings with non-life-threatening injuries overnight. At 11:54 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, officers from District B-2 responded to a person shot at 13 Fayston St. in Roxbury. At 12:36 a.m. Sunday, a victim arrived at a local hospital after being shot at 24 Horadan Way in Roxbury. At 1:56 a.m., officers from District C-11 responded to a person shot at 71 Draper St. in Dorchester.
