Allan and Joycelyn Edwards were honored on Sept. 20 with a standing-room-only celebration at the Devine Golf Course Clubhouse for their more than 60 years in business at Allan’s Formal Wear and their roles as community leaders along Blue Hill Avenue.
Starting with a couple of nice suits that he rented out to those booking functions in Dorchester, the Edwardses grew their business over seven decades into a community fixture for clothing purchases and rentals.
Mayor Michelle Wu hosted the party with other elected officials, including Councillors Brian Worrell and Ruthzee Louijeune and state Rep. Chris Worrell. Family and friends came by the dozens to honor their “extraordinary contributions and lasting impact” to and in the neighborhood.
