The Cedar Grove Civic Association awarded 29 local students $250 scholarships each at its annual student scholarship event during its monthly meeting last Wednesday (Oct. 14) in Father Lane Hall at St. Brendan’s Church.
The money is meant to be used for school tuition, schoolbooks, and supplies at elementary school, high school, or college.
Executive Board member Lauren Woods noted it was the second year that they have brought back presenting the scholarships, which are funded via donations to Cedar Grove Civic from area businesses and non-profits.
Any member of the civic in good standing can nominate a student for an award.
“It’s really great to see and I think every student that received an award was from the neighborhood this year,” said Woods. “We gave away as many awards as the businesses would fund and we thank them for their generosity.”
