Fields Corner-based VietAID held its 32nd annual fundraiser gala at Venezia on Friday night, Oct. 30, with a sold-out crowd hearing the organization’s focus on enhanced programming, a pre-school, and an ambitious affordable housing development arm.
Executive director George Huynh said they were excited to be in the Venezia location for the first time and were successful in selling out the room to benefit their many programs.
“I stand on bridges built by those that came before me and so do all of us,” he said. “At VietAID we focus on issues big and small – anything that affects quality of life in our Vietnamese community and in Fields Corner.
Is this the only community we are serving? How are we showing up for our Black and brown neighbors too?
We know we have more to do and are committed to doing it together…The question for tonight is how we reach beyond our bridges. It’s not a question we can answer alone.”
