The Boston Bruins and their Mascot, “Blades” visited the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester to host a Clinic for our members. The participants were given a goody bag and the Bruins donated equipment for our Floor Hockey programs.Athletic Program News – The Athletic program is gearing up for the Spring session which will run from April to June. There will be a: 10-team Intermediate/Senior Basketball League (ages 13-18); a 4-team Co-ed Indoor Soccer League (ages 8-12); a 4-team Wiffleball League (ages 7-12); along with our new Golf Program in partnership with Boston Parks & Recreation; a Lacrosse Clinic program; as well as 2 All-Star travel teams that will compete against Clubs in the area. There will be a 13&U Indoor Soccer Team and a Teen Volleyball team, both of which are co-ed. Registration began last week and remaining spots are being filled on a first come basis. Media Arts Program
– The Media Arts program took part in the Winter “Arts Bash” last week and is now prepping for the Spring season. For Photography we will offer Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced classes. On the Film front we will host the BGCD Film Academy, Making the Short Film and Club News Team. There will also be Friday Field Trips and new this Fall will be the Spring Play in conjunction with the Arts program. Congratulations to: Shannon Greene, Dayna Finnigan, Shanirah Ponde-Rodrigues and Lilly Murphy whose photos were entered into Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Imagemakers contest. “Wizard of Oz Readings”
-The Club will partner with the Citi Performing Arts Center to host interactive Readings of the “Wizard of Oz.” The first session will take place at our Marr Clubhouse on 4/6 followed by a 4/16 date at our Denney Center site.
