Club Members Enjoy Outing to Shawnee Peak Ski Area

On Saturday, January 8th, 150+ members and chaperones hit the road early in the morning to head to Bridgton, ME and the Shawnee Peak Ski Area to enjoy a day of skiing and snowboarding on the slopes. After an introduction to the ski area and fitting for all the equipment, our members headed out for their lessons. Thanks to an enthusiastic group of volunteer instructors, and a few falls along the way, our group was now ready to head out on the lift to tackle the various trails available. Our members then spent the afternoon enjoying the company of friends while enjoying this great outdoor activity. Our thanks goes out to Mr. Chet Homer, owner of Shawnee Peak for his generosity and to his staff for their hospitality on this exciting special event. We are looking forward to a second Annual Ski Trip to Shawnee Peak to take place next Winter. For information on any of the Club’s special event programming you can contact VP of Programming, Mike Joyce at ext. 2110.

Music Clubhouse Program
The Music Clubhouse program will be starting up the Winter/Spring session of classes beginning the week of 1/24. Classes are offered in piano, voice, bass, drums and guitar and are taught by Berklee College student work-study interns. Our Winter session of classes will meet twice weekly through the end of April. For those interested, a limited number of spots still remain for bass lessons. Other upcoming events include our monthly Open Mic Night (1/21). The Open Mic Night is a great way for members to showcase their special talents in front of a receptive club member audience. Also right around the corner is the start of our Music Production and Songwriting Class (2/8). This course will help members gain a better understanding of audio recording while teaching participants the various techniques to creating and recording their own music. Please note that this class can accommodate up to 12 members. Other programs include Rock Band, our upcoming Clubhouse Idol competition, and a new Poetry Workshop, beginning on 2/7. Lastly, we will be offering a series of workshops in collaboration with our Teen Center and Girls Radio scheduled to start on 1/25 at 6 p.m. In addition to the lesson program and these special events, for members ages 10 and up there are Open Music times built in to the schedule. These sessions are a great time for members to experiment on the instruments or for students in the lesson program to practice what they have learned. For information on the Music Clubhouse program please contact Ayeisha Mathis at 617-288-7120, ext. 1410.
