February School Vacation Week – Spots are quickly filling for the February School Vacation Week program. Club members ages 5-12 can take part in programs from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from 2/16 to 2/19. Participants must be pre-registered and there is a $20 fee. Teen members, who do not have to pre-register, will have programming from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. For more information please contact Kevin Vo (kvo@bgcdorchester.org).
CS First Program – Come join us by providing members of the Club the support and mentoring they need to be more involved in computer science! No mentoring or computer science experience is needed.
Volunteers will get the chance to work closely with members as they watch videos, build projects and gain a fresh new perspective on STEM education via Google’s creative and highly interactive Computer Science-First (CS-First) program. Your involvement will help to inspire many children to realize their full potential in STEM education! If you are at least 16 years old, interested in working with youth (9-14 yrs.), and looking to provide a child with hope for their future, then we want you to join our team! For questions or to obtain a volunteer application please contact Bob Petrowsky (rpetrowsky@bgcdorchester.org). You can also visit www.cs-first.com to learn more about the program.
Job Ready Program – The Club will be partnering with the City’s Department of Youth Engagement & Employment to host the 4-part Job Ready series beginning on 1/27. Topics include “What Employers Value,” “Standing out in the Interview Process,” “Effective Communication in the Workplace,” and “Managing my Social Media preesence.” For information contact Mike Joyce (mjoyce@bgcdorchester.org).
