Sidewalk Memories: Growing up Jewish in Dorchester and Mattapan

In the 1940s and 1950s.

I grew up in the same era only at the other end of Blue Hill Ave - by Dudley St.And I grew up catholic. In this era there were no boundries on where you could go - even as an individual person. My curiousity and wanderlust led me up and down the Avenue many times. I even dated a girl - Dianne Segal - whose mother worked in the bakery close to the big Synagogue. I never knew which I liked more - the bakery goodies or the girl - but that is another story. I had my first pastrami sandwich just up the block. Fantastic. I had releatives down on River Street in Mattapan so I can recall many of the schenes in the video. Can't wait for the next installment. Regards, Bill Howe wfhowe@hotmail.com
