Man charged with strangling wife

Roger Paron strangled his wife Victoria on Saturday, then hung around their Dorchester neighborhood until police found him - and her body - the next day, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office charges.

At his arraignment Tuesday, Dorchester District Court Judge James Coffey ordered Paron, 51, held without bail.

Police say Paron's mother, living out of town, turned him in when he called her to tell her he had killed Victoria, 39.

At first, police could not locate Paron, but when he called his mother again Sunday morning to tell her he was thinking of turning himself in, police were able to locate the pay phone he used near Blue Hill and Talbot avenues - and then locate him nearby.

According to the District Attorney's office, when police asked Paron where his wife was, he replied: "She's dead. I killed her." Police went to their apartment a few blocks away and found her body, the District Attorney's office says.
