Lower Mills BPL branch remains closed due to crack in ceiling, leak

(Updated Monday, Feb. 7 11 a.m.)— The Lower Mills branch library remains closed today as a "precautionary measure" after a water leak and a crack in the ceiling were observed last Friday.

On Friday, a BPL official said that the building at 27 Richmond Street would be closed until "structural engineers review a crack discovered in the ceiling."

On Monday, BPL spokesperson Gina Perille told the Reporter that the building will remain closed today (Monday, February 7) in order to allow for the completion of the inspection process.

"The structural engineer’s report is expected before the end of the work day," Perille said in an email. "In addition, the BPL facilities team has been in touch with the City’s Inspectional Services to ask that they review the building condition."
