Reporter readers revel in Dot’s vibrant restaurant scene

More than 1,000 Dorchester Reporter readers participated in our first-ever Dorchester’s Favorite Restaurants survey earlier this month. After receiving scores of nominations from Facebook and Twitter— we took your favorite suggestions and compiled a very unscientific list of local eateries in a survey broken into 17 different categories.

The results are below. We’ve listed the top three-vote getters in each category of the survey. There are no winners or losers in this survey— but it gives us all a better sense of the wide-ranging tastes and exciting options for dining that are on tap in modern-day Dorchester.

There were some huge, run-away vote-getters in the survey: There was really no contest in the bakery category. Greenhills Irish Bakery in Adams Corner ran laps around its competition. So did Sullivan’s at Castle Island— the huge favorite in the “close to home” category.

But, the totals were much closer across the bulk of the survey. One thing is clear: Dorchester folks are passionate about their favorites and that bodes well for the future. There are new restaurants on the horizon and they’ll no doubt be some new entrants in next year’s survey. Until then… Bon appétit!
