Another man charged with ambush murder on Havelock Street

The Boston Police Department reports arresting Andrew Robertson, 37, of Hyde Park, on charges he participated in ambushing and murdering Romeo McCubbin early on Dec. 14 on Havelock Street.

Robertson was ordered held without bail at his arraignment on a murder charge at Dorchester District Court on Monday, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office.

Two men were charged with McCubbin's murder after leading police on a high-speed chase to Hyde Park and after, prosecutors say, one shot him, then the other one kicked him in the head.

A third man was arrested in January on charges he was also part of the ambush.

The DA's office provided this account:

"McCubbin attended a Jamaican music festival in Mattapan, as did Robertson and his co-defendants. After leaving the event, McCubbin was sitting in a vehicle on Haverlock Street at about 1:45 a.m. when Robertson approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and shot the victim multiple times, prosecutors said. McCubbin ended up on the sidewalk, where prosecutors said he was shot and kicked in the head by Bonner and Denton.

"Robertson then fled the area in a vehicle driven by Watson, which was later found abandoned prosecutors said. Investigators recovered Watson’s cell phone and both defendants' fingerprints inside the vehicle, prosecutors said."
