A 29-year-old man who had recently opened his own barber shop on Adams Street was stabbed to death last Friday evening in a crime that is not yet solved. Boston Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the assailant who killed Sean Dwyer, who was working at the Clover City Unisex Barber Shop around 6:20 p.m. when the incident took place.

Dwyer was found lying in the middle of Adams Street and initial reports from the scene indicated that a person may have been fatally struck by a vehicle. But first responders quickly realized that Dwyer had in fact been mortally wounded in a knife attack. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body remained in place as investigators combed the street and the barber shop for evidence that night. Adams Street was closed off for hours between Ashmont Street and Adams Corner.

Tom Sweeney, who owns the building at 661 Adams St. that Dwyer had rented for his business, said that Dwyer may have been attacked outside the store. On Saturday morning, mourners came to the storefront bearing flowers and cards with messages of regret for the barber, who was known by his handle “Shizz.”

“It appeared to me that he was doing a good business there,” said Sweeney, who operates a real estate and construction business from an office in the same building. “He was trying to make a go of it. It was his first real venture into business. He had worked in a barber shop in Andrew Square before that.”

Boston Police have asked anyone with information to contact the Boston Police Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.
