Boston Police report arresting a suspect on charges he robbed a Dorchester Ave. convenience store and shot the owner. The incident took place on Monday night around 7:30 p.m. at D&D store, 1002 Dorchester Ave. near the intersection of Sudan Street.

Police said they arrested Jarris Charley, 21, after a manhunt that included help from a State Police helicopter.

Police add that the victim is expected to survive. He was transported to Boston Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, police said Tuesday.

According to police, "officers spoke to another store employee who stated that he observed a black male enter the store, display a firearm and demand money. During the course of the robbery, the suspect shot the victim and fled the store on foot."

Charley was charged with armed robbery, assault with intent to murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester Municipal Court today, according to the Suffolk County district attorney's office.

It was the second of two serious incidents in the C-11 police district yesterday. Around 5 p.m., a young man was shot outside the CVS store in Lower Mills. He was listed in serious condition at Boston Medical Center last night.
